Jonny and Kerri both finished their abstract.
First we measured how big the hole needed to be. Then we cut just three sides to make the opening. It needed to be just smaller than the piece of glass. Then we turned the lid over and the glued the glass to the inside of the lid.
Finally, we made two props to hold up the rectangle piece of cardboard. We just used some of the old flap that we cut off in an earlier step.
Jonny put the smaller box inside the box with the newspaper on the bottom. He also filled the excess space between the smaller and bigger box with newspaper. He used many piles of newspaper to fill the space thoroughly.
He also cut each flap to fit inside the smaller box. He cut where the smaller box lined up and folded them into the smaller box. He did this for each flap, then glued each one to the inside of the inner box.
The supplies used for today were scissors, glue, and newspaper.
We cut out 48 four cm squares for support on the bottom of the box. We used the extra cardboard we did not use of the flaps. We needed to make them 3 cm tall, so that means we needed 6 for each stack to make 8 stacks. Then we glued them to the bottom of the box and put newspaper for more support. We divided the newspaper in fours and crumpled them up to make small size balls.
The materials that we used today were glue, a bowl or beaker, aluminum and scissors.
Today, we cut the smaller box to the right size of height. We also cut off the flaps of the smaller box. Then we diluted the water into a bowl and brushed all of the aluminum foil onto the bigger box in the inside, and the inside and the outside of the smaller box.
We begin looking up information about the solar energy with solar thermal systems and solar heating, cooling and lighting. We both start on our abstract.
